Distinguished Lectures

From 2009, the Formation Evaluation Society of Australia has initiated a "Distinguished Lectures" series to bring landmark lectures to audiences across Australia outside of Perth.

2011 Distinguished Lecturer #1: Dr. Joseph Hamilton

A FESAus roadshow featuring the topic "Clay" (as presented in Perth in 2010) and was presented Dr. Joseph Hamilton in Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide during August 2011.

Joseph is Senior Reservoir Minerologist with Ammtec Ltd with a BSc from London University and a DPhil from Oxford University. From 1975 to 1988 he held research positions as a geochemist at Columbia, Glasglow and Cambridge Universities. From 1988 to 2003 he held various positions as a geochemist at management positions in CSIRO and in the Australian Petroleum CRC. This period was followed by two years of the running the Petroleum Geoscience Unit of the University of the West Indies. Subsequently he returned to Australia and is now Senior Reservoir Minerologist with AMMTEC. During his career he has received four best paper awards from international conferences an has more than 100 published papers.

2011 Distinguished Lecturer #2: Cherie Sims

Cherie presented her SPE paper entitled "Unveiling Invisible Pay" at a series of joint FESAus/PESA lectures in Canberra, Brisbane and Adelaide during April 2011.

Cherie is a Petrophysicist with Shell Development Australia.
